The tour exposed us to a new region of Italy, the Mezzogiorno, that was diverse in terrain and sites. In Ravello and Amalfi, it was lush with greenery, mountains and ocean views. Then the contrast of Matera with the stone caves and Trani on the sea with its clean, white cityscape. The towns of Ostuni and Barletta were very interesting showing us castles and trulli houses. Paestum was like a visit to Greece. Our accommodations were excellent in location, luxury and views. The dining experiences were highly memorable as the food was beautifully prepared and plentiful along with the great service. The pace of the trip balanced sites with free time and is suited for the traveler who does not want to be busy every moment.

‘This was our first experience with Amber Road Tours. We had been looking for a small group tour and with 16 the average number of participants in a group, Amber Road Tours seemed to fit the bill. On tour, our group of 14 ( which included driver and guide) had all travelled extensively before and everyone readily intermingled. We were pleased with the itinerary, the towns and historical sites visited and had exceptional individual tour guides in each. We also had a very good mix of planned excursions and free time, which was important to us. Our tour director/guide, Aldo was both knowledgeable and entertaining and we were impressed that when it was raining on our arrival in a town with streets too narrow to accommodate our 20 seater minibus, he organised taxis to shuttle us to the hotel door in order that we stay dry – Our hotels were always very conveniently placed in the historic centres of the towns we visited. Our driver too was impressive, navigating the windy twisty roads with caution and vigilance. Pairing our lunch and dinner menus to the speciality food and wine of the regions we were touring made for some interesting choices and Aldo always gave appropriate suggestions for independent dining. Bravo Aldo and Amber Road Tours and Grazie Mille for a wonderful experience. We look forward to travelling with you again!’

This was our first trip with Amber Road Tours and I am sure it will not be our last! This was one of the best trips we have taken with one of the best Tour Directors we have ever had. The itinerary was great-the right balance of structure and free time. The hotels were unique with all the modern amenities and were well-located for going off on our own. We saw the highlights of the area yet still had sufficient free time to explore on our own. Having a small group allowed us to get to know the others quickly and become a compatible group. Aldo was so knowledgeable-and very entertaining! He was so helpful in directing us to restaurants and free-time activities.

Aldo our Tour Guide was amazing. He gave us first hand experiences and traditions of Southern Italian lifestyles, food & family traditions. So interesting. Hotels were situated in central parts of towns & were varied from boutique to modern. Suggestions for our own time were brilliant and varied. Itinerary was clearly explained beforehand and tailored to suit our crowd when ideal. Appreciated this company’s tour ethics, their assistance at any time and standards.

We have traveled independently in Europe and this was our first experience with a guided, small group tour. We chose wisely. This tour was amazing on many levels. Amber Road has obviously spent quality time fine-tuning their itineraries, choosing great hotels, restaurants, local guides and tour managers. We toured with a wonderful group of people and, most importantly, we had Anna as our personal tour manager. She is both professional and personable, a dynamic combination that makes her an outstanding coordinator for a group of people who have never met. We so enjoyed our interactions with her. Anna and Amber Road are the gold standards by which we will compare any future tours we take.

We have just had another marvellous trip and experience with Amber Roads! Aldo is wonderful, knowledgeable, helpful and genuinely caring; our group of twelve was a lot of fun and definitely most interesting; the local guides were very good and the countryside we covered was certainly as advertised! Unfortunately even Amber Roads and Aldo together could “fix” our weather…but, still, we all made the best of it!

We shall continue to sing the praises of your organization ( including your lovely staff in Charleston ) and we will return for another trip ourselves…for certain! Until then, thanks from us both for an exceptional holiday!

All more than I could have asked for. Everything outstanding. Companions travel, hotels, food and what can I say about Aldo? He was every place you needed him, always aware of where his group was. I am sure you don’t have a better tour manager…. He needs a raise !! For being such a special person

This was our second Amber Roads Tour and just like the first was AMAZING! Anna is a real treasure from start to finish-she is so much more than a tour guide. She was our “mom” as she gently, lovingly, and amusingly kept us informed and on track throughout the entire trip. We laughed a lot and ate a lot and weren’t disappointed one moment. Kudos to our last driver, Antonio, who quickly and expertly led us off the highway when we had a flat tire which he proceeded to change and get us back on the road in half an hour. As with our first tour the hotels are beautiful and unique and are only out done by the gorgeous locations. Loved Matera, Ravello, Pompeii and all the other unique locations we visited. Our only regret is that it will take us longer than 12 days to lose the weight we have gained eating the freshest, tastiest food and drinking the best wine in the world-but it was worth it. Hope to do more tours with you in the future.

Our first trip to Italy! Awesome tour! Anna [tour manager] was outstanding!!!

This was my first tour with Amber Road and I was really impressed with everything. The tour was so well planned and executed. Our tour manager, Anna, was outstanding and so much fun. She is on top of everything. We were a group of 12 and from the beginning she knew our names and personalities. She was always there whenever there was a need or a request. She laughed and we laughed. Our group got along so well and had so much fun together. There were more meals than we expected and more food than we could eat. And what wonderful food it was. There were local guides as well as Anna and they were always there and waiting for us. My favorite places were Ravello and Matera and the Hotel Villa Maria and Hotel Locanda San Martino were my favorite hotels. I’ve been to Italy multiple times, but I hope to go on another Amber Road tour again and highly recommend it.

Ohmyohmy – How to describe how much fun my third tour with Amber Road proved to be! Our guide Aldo was a hoot – And took care of everything for us! Hard to come back to reality. The tour guides and sights were great, but what made this trip especially fantastic was the FABULOUS TWELVE. Our group just clicked – and as one participant said on our last night: “Thank you all for not being jerks!” I would never tour with any other company. Thanks everyone!

A great way to see part of Italy we had never visited & read little about. Our guide, Luca, was incredibly cheerful & optimistic during rain or shine. He insured that everyone knew when to assemble & leave whether we were in that day\\\’s tour or not. He also knew a lot about the history & locations we visited. The places we found especially interesting were Paestum, Ravello in the hills, the mysterious Castel del Monte, lovely Trani, the white city Ostuni, & of course Alberobello with the Trulli. We loved the hotel in Ravello for its charm & setting. The hotel in Materna was an interesting chance to sleep in a cave! The meals Amber Roads provided were all good, especially the last 2 in Ostuni.

We have toured extensively around Italy; this was our first visit to ‘The Heel’ and first Amber Road tour. From our meeting in Naples to our farewell in Ostuni, our super-guide, Anna, led her ‘ragazzi’ with unfailing friendliness, humour and efficiency. Accommodations were all of high standard, the included meals/wine were top-class, and local tour guides informative and enthusiastic. There is so much to see and experience in this relatively un-touristy region of Italy (Amalfi Coast excepted!). This tour ensured that in a fairly tight time frame, we saw and learned a great deal. We have the memories and photographs to prove it! Thanks to Anna, our travelling companions and Amber Road Tours for a most enjoyable fortnight.

This was my first trip with Amber Road Tours and I hope not my last. Our tour guide, Anna, who was with us every step of the way, was accommodating, approachable, knowledgeable, and helpful in oh so many ways. She became one of the family. Hotels chosen for the tour were all very well located, always in the historic district of the towns we visited. Although, sometimes a little difficult to get to, the hotels were all comfortable, modern, well staffed and unique in different ways. And the included breakfast buffets were always varied, abundant, and tasty. Not all meals were included in the tour, but invariably any lunches or dinners that were included were surprisingly good and delicious. The Restaurant choices were excellent. The local guides were also very good, but none could compare with Giampaolo who was extraordinary and really immersed himself in his presentations. Also, transportation between cities was very comfortable as it was a small tour group and most of the time we had the use of a large over sized tour bus, very comfortable. Some participants in the group thought that there was too much free time on the tour, but that was the exact reason why I chose it. It was great to be able to explore on our own and also to try some of the wonderful restaurants in all the areas. The perfect combination of planned excursions and free time. I would highly recommend Amber Road!

We did not know what to expect, but we were pleased from the very start. Easy meeting place, Anna was early, and she made everyone immediately feel like they had known her forever. Great organizer of a very diversified group, and able to move all of them along, and also quell any friction. Anna was great on letting us know a head of time what was going to happen, being very inclusive, and integrating individuals, (including the attention getters, such as my husband). Each local guide was very knowledgeable and passionate about their area, and great interaction with Anna and the group. We travelled some very unique areas, and each hotel was well staffed with very helpful employees and fantastic lodging and breakfast buffets that went on forever. We were immersed into the local people and surroundings. Anna was very approachable, well spoken, knowledgeable on so many things, gave us an introductory walk of each new place, and was available for extra venues. We would highly recommend Amber Road, starting with Lisa and Jonathan, to areas visited, local guides, lead guide-Anna, bus drivers, hotels, all meals, venues we visited, punctuality, but flexible. Thank you very much for affordable an unforgettable trip of a life time, and the top of our bucket list.

This was my first trip with Amber Road Tours and I was not disappointed. The program put together for the Amalfi Coast to Apulia Tour was excellent and the hotels selected were comfortable and a good reflection of the regions through which we travelled. Our guide, Aldo, was exceptional with a perfect mix of professionalism and fun which was key to making our holiday so enjoyable and run so smoothly. And, Mille Grazie, Aldo! for taking care of my dietary requirements which at times were a bit of a challenge but, needless to say, you always made sure I had something delicious to eat! I would be very happy to travel with Amber Road Tours again.

We had a great time on the Amalfi/Apulia Tour. Our tour guide, Aldo was very informative, timely, and interactive with our entire group. He was a delight to share this experience with. I would highly recommend Aldo! The places we visited were all very interesting. It was a great experience.

This is the first time we have travelled with Amber Road Tours but it won’t be the last. Our guide Aldo made us feel relaxed and welcome from day one. Our fellow travellers helped us enjoy every day. The sights, sounds, foods and customs of Southern Italy have enriched our lives and we are most grateful for the opportunity the tour gave us. Bella, bella!

We took Amber Road’s tour from Amalfi to Apulia and it was wonderful. Hotels were great and varied; loved the two nights in a cave. The food and wine were delicious. Loved our group. Everyone was so friendly and fun. Our guide, Aldo, was the best we’ve ever had on a tour. He was very knowledgeable and has a terrific sense of humor. Who else could have taught us “silent Italian” the way he did? Would definitely travel with Amber Roads again.

This was our second tour with Amber Roads and did not disappoint. The Amalfi Coast was ravishing and Apulia fascinating and unspoiled. The hotels represented the uniqueness of the areas we visited. Aldo, our guide, went out of his way to accommodate our special needs arranging for transport if the terrain seemed too difficult for my post surgery husband. These gestures were greatly appreciated.

We just returned from our tour to Amalfi Coast and Apulia. Our guide was Aldo and he could not have been more personable and fun. Furthermore, we got very lucky with the most agreeable and fun loving travel companions we have ever had on an organized tour. The accommodations were very good and were clearly boutique and off the normal tourist path. We walked considerably on tour (which was fine to help offset the fabulous meals) and had guides who were very knowledgeable. The sites, accommodations, food, and local guide tours exceeded our expectations. We are already thinking about another Amber Roads Tour.

We just returned from our tour of Amalfi and Apulia. It was fabulous. Our guide, Aldo, was wonderful, always cheerful and full of information. He is a gem. The tour of Amalfi was all that we expected and more. However, our big surprise was the beauty and diversity of Apulia. It was very unspoiled and non- touristy. From the Adriatic to the caves and hills, it was beautiful.

This was our first ever guided tour and it has spoiled us for all others! Our tour guide Anna was wonderful (always smiling and helpful), the accommodation was great, the external guides all very informative, and the scenery and food both stunning. The balance of free time and guided tours was just right and the 12 days gave adequate time to get a good feel for the Amalfi Coast and Puglia . Our fellow travellers were fun and we were sad to leave them. All in all a great two weeks. Fantastico!

This was our second tour with Amber Road and it did not disappoint. Amber Roads seems to find the nicest and most interesting places to stay and see. Anna was a fabulous guide and joined right in with the fun group of people we met. Thanks Amber Road!

Once again we had an excellent holiday with Amber Road Tours so much so, that we are really excited about our next trip with them in September.
Our tour of the Amalfi and Puglia included some towns we had seen before but we visited some beautiful sights and interesting places that we missed when doing ‘our own thing’. A great tour needs a great tour guide, Anna certainly was, many thanks Anna we had a very memorable, fun time with you and our new friends from the USA. The local guides were first class too, some amusing, some passionate about their subject but all really knowledgeable.
The beauty and charm of the Amalfi Coast was captivating. We loved Ravello and Trani in Puglia for their magical locations by the sea. We stayed in great hotels, two nights in a cave in Matera, such a vibrant passeggiata in the main town, followed by nights in a ‘Palace’ in barroc Lecce.
We dined in some very good restaurants in charming locations. Sampling delicious local dishes and wine, including one of our favourite varieties ‘Primitivo’ , at a Wine Tasting, one of the many highlights on the tour.
Roll on September.
