This was our first experience with Amber Road Tours and it was top-notch. We loved touring the smaller towns and saw so many wondrous sights. All accommodations were clean and comfortable and some were ultra-luxurious, like the cave hotel in Matera. The local guides were knowledgeable and showed us sights we would not have found on our own. Breakfast was always included and quite delicious, especially the spectacular Italian coffee drinks. The lunches and dinners that were part of the tour were in unique, delicious, often Michelin-rated restaurants. I have dietary restrictions, and every chef made sure that my diet was accommodated. Our guide, Tiziana, was charming, funny, informative, organized, and very tuned in to ensuring we all were enjoying ourselves. She often shared delightful stories and customs about Italian life as we drove from place to place. We had some rain in the beginning of the tour, and Tiziana worked very hard to rearrange events so we could enjoy ourselves despite the rain. The tour was already an A, but Tiziana made it an A++++. We hope to encounter her again on an Amber Road Tour, which we definitely plan to take!

This was my first time traveling to Europe. A friend recommended Amber Road Tours and I am so glad I took her advice. From initial booking until my arrival home every step was seamless. Tiziana was our tour guide and she was fantastic. She worked tirelessly to make sure our tour was successful. The hotels were fabulous. The Aquatico hotel in Matera was unbelievable. The locations and events scheduled highlighted each region, city, territory giving the best observation / experience of these places. Tiziana also managed to fit in Positano even though our boat trip was cancelled due to bad weather. I think Amber Roads Tours provides a unique and comprehensive experience in Southern Italy. Would highly recommend them and plan to use them again for the Umbria/ Tuscany tour.

Our friends assumed that our tour of the Amalfi Coast and Apulia was exhausting from seeing our Facebook posts, but Amber Roads Tours are so well organized that the pace almost seems leisurely.  Our tour director, Tiziana kept her “chickens” safe and happy and expanded on the considerable knowledge of the local guides, including the charming last minute substitute guide in Lecce.  The location and quality of the hotels was consistently excellent, especially the unique Sassi hotel in Matera.  The variety of destinations, accommodations, cultural and culinary experiences is the reason we look forward to touring with Amber Roads again in the future.

This was a wonderful tour and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The sites we were shown were varied, the amount of free time just right, the length of stay in each hotel good, the organization excellent, hotels good, the group size just right. Federica is simply a fantastic tour manager – knowledgeable. a great organizer and it was a pleasure to be with her. I will be happily looking forward to travelling with Amber again

Enjoyed my 4th tour with Amber Roads and Laura our tour guide! This places we traveled to were great, food delicious and hotels wonderful!

Very much enjoyed our first tour with Amber Road Tours. The itinerary was interesting and very informative, although it seemed physically challenging at times for some of the tour participants. Our tour director, Federica, was exceptional in every respect. Can’t say enough positive things about her and her relationships with everyone on this tour. All in all, a great experience.

A fascinating trip in a less travelled region of Italy, full of historical and artistic significance, not to mention delicious food and gorgeous vistas. Laura, our charming, knowledgeable tour guide, guided us comfortably throughout and dealt with whatever problems came up. This was our fifth Amber Road tour and all have been wonderful experiences.

We recently returned from the Amalfi Coast to Apulia tour. We were so fortunate to have Laura as our tour guide. She helped make our trip a memorable one. Laura was kind, courteous, professional, very helpful, and never ceased to amaze us with her wealth of knowledge about so many subjects. At each destination she would have a list of restaurants she would recommend for our free evenings and would make reservations for us. We saw areas we would have never seen on our own and it was great having Laura guide us along the way.
Thank you Laura and Amber Road.

We decided on a trip to Italy for our 25th anniversary. We could not have been happier with our choice!! This was our first group tour. We chose Amber Road because of the smaller groups and the authentic itinerary. We wanted to spend more time getting to know a smaller region of the country and the Amalfi to Apulia tour hit the mark. We especially loved Ravello, the Amalfi coast and Matera but all the locations were special and unique. The hotels and food were amazing! We loved the local tour guides – they brought the history and culture of the places we visited to life – along with a laugh or two! We met some great people and being newbies to the travel tour experience, we really enjoyed hearing about everyone’s world travels. We also enjoyed the balance between structured and unstructured time.

Last but not least, our tour manager Laura was fantastic!! Her knowledge, passion, love of people and genuine concern for everyone’s experience made us feel special. We would do another tour just to have her again. Thank you Laura and Amber Road for a special 25th anniversary!

Amber Road has scored top marks again. The tour was full of variety – so many wonderful little towns full of history, amazing stories and picturesque winding streets. Anna was the perfect guide – charming, caring, efficient and funny. We thoroughly enjoyed being with her. Local guides were good too – particularly Emanuella. Top spot was probably Ravello, but towns in Puglia (e.g. Alberobello, Matera, Ostuni and Trani) ran it close.

Anna “piano piano” Sagaria was a Tour Manager “fantastica”. She quickly empathised with the group and ensured that we all enjoyed a memorable Tour. I would not hesitate to award the “sassi” Anna – Five Stars! Hotel location and quality were to usual Amber Road high standards. All our local guides were excellent.  The Tour Itinerary provided the customary Amber Road high quality mix of relaxing experiences, cultural stimulations and wonderful Italian food. The Tour offered a collection of superb differing experiences at every visit – with personal highlights being Ravello, Matera, Lecce and Trani.

We greatly enjoyed the tour. Our tour guide Anna Sagaria was excellent. She was very considerate and efficient in dealing with our dietary needs and mobility problems. We particularly enjoyed our four night stay on the Amalfi Coast – the hotel was excellent, as were the other hotels elsewhere.

We are back home after a truly wonderful trip to Italy. Our tour guide, Anna, was spectacular….fun, knowledgeable, efficient and delightful. She made all of our activities seamless and memorable. The local guides were very interesting and the sites were generally well-selected. We hadn’t travelled with such a small group before (9), but thoroughly enjoyed our bonding experience with our fellow travelers from Australia and the USA.

We couldn’t have asked for a better way to start our 50th Wedding Anniversary trip than with Anna and the other 7 travelers touring the beautiful Amalfi area and the rest of southern Italy. She was so caring and attentive to our every need. It is obvious that Anna loves what she does and brings her country to life for the rest of us. The scenery, the lovely hotels and the food were wonderful. We hope to travel again with Amber Road.

We had a wonderful time touring the Amalfi Coast and Puglia. The hotels were of a high standard and the sites visited were very interesting, with excellent local guides. Our tour leader, Anna, was particularly good, with excellent organisational skills and a great personality.

This was our first tour with Amber and it was fantastic. First and foremost our tour guide, Federica was superb. She was extremely knowledgeable and most of all friendly and fun. We would go an another trip with her in a heartbeat. The specialty tour guides that were also chosen for each individual site were also fantastic and extremely knowledgeable. Secondly the destinations of this Amalfi trip (Apulia region) were also fantastic, not your typical Amalfi trip and not destinations that I would have thought of on my own. Very educational and inspiring. Ravello was beautiful and a good place to unwind with a 4 day stay. Loved loved Ravello. All in all it was a great trip!

This was a wonderful tour. I appreciated the sites selected, many off the beaten track. Our tour guide, Tiziana, was exceptional. Not only did she keep us on track, in a sensitive way, but she was a great teacher. I’ve studied Italian, and she was great about practicing with me. She also shared information about Italian culture in general, and specific to areas we were visiting. She was warm, fun and generous in spirit. The pacing of the tour was great, with built in free time not often found in other tours. We were able to do our own thing, rest, and, of course, do a bit of shopping. My husband appreciated that there were no commercial stops. The local guides were generally excellent. The hotels were well placed, and of high quality. Bari was not a planned stop, but put together by Amber at the last minute because of issues in Trani. I actually enjoyed visiting the old town quite a bit, so kudos to Amber for putting it together. We also enjoyed the other travelers in our group, as well as the small size of the gruppo.

The trip was lovely and I so appreciated all the extra miles the company and our guide, Tiziana, went to in order to accommodate my crazy schedule. Our hotels were wonderful and the food very good for the most part. We enjoyed the company of our fellow travelers and met some very interesting folks. Tiziana is a dear and everyone adored her. If the rest of your guides are as good natured and knowledgeable, you are lucky. Thanks again for all the time you spent getting me transfers when I needed them.

Our tour was well structured and seamlessly put together. There was a good balance between planned activities and independent exploration time. Tiziana, our tour guide, was a knowledgeable gem. It would have been very difficult to independently put together a trip covering the different areas of the country successfully covered by the trip.

Great time, wonderful tour guide.

Our first taste of Amber Road Tours was a memorable experience, made all the more invigorating and educational by the fantastic efforts of Anna our tour guide. The group of 14 was treated to exceptional hospitality and service throughout the trip which was very well planned with a perfect balance between group activities and individual free time. The local guides were all terrific, however a special mention must go to the brilliant fellow (John-Paul I think) at Castel de Monte and Alberobello – he had us all captivated with his unique theatrical approach. Ravello was just stunning, like being in a dream. Lovely boutique hotel despite the many steps to and fro. Matera and Trani were the other two stand-out highlights amongst many other wonderful southern Italian experiences. And the food of course – how could you not love it! This was definitely a small group tour of the highest standard with a well considered and relaxed pace including a nice diversity of activities and special villages. We would highly recommend Amber Road to any traveller wanting to be seduced by the charms of Southern Italy without being herded through places following a silly umbrella!

What a great trip! Thoroughly enjoyed seeing Basilicata and Apulia through the eyes of our wonderful host, Anna. She was amazing. Not only her knowledge of the area but also her ability to bond with all of us and to make sure everything went smoothly. She was able to connect to all the restaurants and make sure that the guests with food issues were well taken care of. That in itself, is impressive! We loved meeting our new folks from Australia and Great Britain, as well as Virginia and also sharing this experience with other members of our Italian Conversation “Gruppo”.
When asked at the farewell dinner what part of the trip we all liked the most: Trani, Lecce and Matera along with Paestum came through as the best parts of the tour. Thank you also to Amber Road Tours for suggesting our fabulous hotel in Naples, the Palazzo Decumani – gorgeous location, friendly helpful staff, and great, comfortable rooms.

First time in Italy, referred by my sister, who took the Tuscany tour. She loved the small group and experiences offered, and my spouse and me were not disappointed!! Wonderful tour guide!!!! We learned so much. All accommodations are unique and excellent. We loved Italy with Amber Road tours!!!

Fantastic trip. Excellent choice of hotels, superb meals and wonderful tours. There was a good balance between organised time and free time. Federica, our tour guide, was amazing. Knowledgeable and personable. Unfortunately I had a fall three days before the end of the tour. Federica spent hours at the hospital with me and was most helpful and supportive in every way possible. My only regret was that I was unable to continue the end of the tour. I would recommend this tour and the professionalism of Amber Roads.

This was my third time with Amber Road and once again I was impressed by the high standards of all aspects of the tour. Our tour leader, Federica was very knowledgeable, warm and helpful. When my sister broke both her arms in a fall at Otranto, Federica’s assistance was invaluable. She managed to arrange two extra nights in the beautiful Patria Hotel in Lecce as we had to abandon the last two days of the tour. Highlights for us were stunning Ravello and the Hotel Villa Maria; Matera, with its intriguing underground homes and totally relaxing thermal baths; and Trani, a laid back portside town. Best dinner was Soul Kitchen at Matera.
