We just wanted to write you a brief note regarding the wonderful time we had the last two weeks in Amalfi/Puglia. The quality and great experiences on this vacation was every bit as good as that which we had in our initial visit with you in Tuscany. Our tour manager, Aldo, was certainly one of the highlights of our trip. His vivacious personality, vast knowledge of the area and attention to detail was superb. We also found the local guides in each side trip to be excellent, combining a teaching experience with a blend of humor in their presentations. We can only look at so many ruins, churches, etc. but their ability to keep it light kept us deeply involved. As usual, the accommodations were first class and the Sassi cave stay was a special treat. With one exception the food and drink were exceptional and we are in need of a serious exercise program to get back to our prior clothing sizes. We truly enjoyed the international makeup of the tour travelers. This enriches the experience and is one of the criteria we use in any tour selection. We sincerely hope that our paths will cross in the future and we wish you continued success in your business expansion.

I can only use superlatives to describe the unique hotels, fabulous Italian cuisine from Mama’s kitchen, and the passionate local guides that shared their knowledge and stories at each historical /archeological site. The Amalfi Coast to Apulia tour exceeded all of my expectations. Aldo is an exceptional tour manager with tremendous leadership skills. I chose Amber Tours because of its size. Our small group bonded during this tour so I now have many new friends in Austin, New York, Vancouver, and Baltimore.

It’s wonderful on this dismal wet day in England, to remember the gloriously sunny days spent in Sicily at the end of September. Having been to various parts of Italy under our own steam, we really enjoyed the luxury of having everything organised for us. A very well crafted itinerary of the notable historical & geographical sites, effortless travel, the best hotels, fine dining and a fun time with a great bunch of fellow travellers. Special thanks to our excellent tour manager Luigi and skillful driver, Fabio. On the bus, Luigi kept us entertained with his knowledge of all things Sicilian and he was always ready with suggestions for places to visit or eat during our free time. We are fans of Commissario Montalbano so on our free morning in Ragusa Ibla, to our delight Luigi was able to organise a car/driver at short notice, to take us to Modica and Scicli. For anyone that has a free day in Palermo prior to the tour, Cefalù is a delightful place to visit on the train, thank-you for the advice in the pre-tour notes. Thank you for making our 40th wedding anniversary trip so delightful. We hope to travel with you again soon.

A brilliant itinerary of Tuscany/Umbria – certainly one of the best tours that we have ever done. The small size of the group certainly contributed to our enjoyment, but staying out of the busy touristy areas, was a huge plus for us. It was great to see smaller villages that the big bus tours simply wouldn’t go to. The food was excellent and has obviously been well thought out with the good mix of restaurants and family-run restaurants. Lastly, but certainly not least, our tour leader Aldo was very knowledgeable and passionate about the history and culture of Tuscany/Umbria, and his great sense of humour was not only endearing but kept us laughing. We would not hesitate to recommend Amber Road Tours to any of our friends and acquaintances.

We have just returned home from Amber Road Tours’ 9 day tour of the Tuscany and Liguria regions. What a wonderful time we had! Every day was full of fun and adventure. It was an enormously diverse itinerary with trips by bus, train and boat. There were countryside walks through medieval towns along with a visit to the Petrognano winery, olive oil facility and villa; guided tours of the beautiful cities of Lucca and Florence; a sculpting exhibit and tour of the marble mountains of Carrara; a magnificent Puccini concert; a walk through the glorious and most beautiful streets of Portofino; fabulous lunches and dinners with our friendly and fun traveling companions, and loads of free time to explore sights on our own. The time we spent in Florence with visits to the Accademia to see Michelangelo’s David and many of his other works, and to the Bargello, where Donatello’s David stands among the timeless works of many other great sculptors, will be remembered by us as among the biggest highlights.

The tour could not have been as successful as it was without our wonderful and lovely guide, Beatrice. She was thoughtful, charming, knowledgeable and always thinking of how to make our tour the best that it could be. She is a gem!  Our fearless driver, Ubaldo, handled the mountain roads of the Cinque Terre with aplomb and got us to our destinations with ease and on time.

Our thanks and gratitude to all at Amber Road Tours who worked so hard at putting our tour together and making it such a great experience for us.

We have now been home a week following our Amber Road travels and must write and thank you for a wonderful tour of Tuscany and Umbria. The tour was perfectly planned, the hotels excellent, our guide Luca had exceptional knowledge combined with a great sense of humour that we all appreciated. Our driver Tiziano made us all feel safe as we traveled the “amber roads”. And what a wonderful group on our tour – a mixture of Americans, New Zealanders, South Africans, and Australians all compatible and all enjoying each others company and of course add a delightful Spanish lady and two Italians (1 Tuscan and 1 Umbrian) and I think we had the perfect tour combination! This was our first Amber Road tour and hopefully won’t be our last -we are looking with interest at your tour of South Croatia, Bosnia and Montenegro maybe for 2015! It was great to meet both you and Sonya in Spoleto.

Ciao Jonathan, it was wonderful meeting you and your sweet wife on the Tuscany/Umbria tour last month. I thoroughly enjoyed the tour and hope to travel with Amber Road again before too long. Having Luca as the guide two years in a row was super – he is a great tour manager! And such fun to have Veronica (wife) along with us for a few days. My best to you.

While Sicily is a wonderful place, it was made even more so by Aldo’s knowledge and story telling which brought the past alive. True to Amber Road’s word, it was a small tour group, (which gave it a more personable feel) with an amazing mix of lovely people in our group. Would happily recommend to anyone.

This tour was excellent, we were all well cared for and about in every aspect of this holiday. Aldo’s enthusiasm and joy in showing us his Sicily shone through and we feel we have made a great friend, in showing us the what/ where and why of this country we come to understand and share the love of it and the people who live there. Together with Vincenzo who kept us safe on the roads in some very challenging situations they make a very good team. Thank you for this tour and travel connections to further travels.

Many thanks again to you and Sonya for dining with us last week in Spoleto. Your personalized touch goes a long way in making Amber Road Tours special for your guests. We are back in the States trying to re-adjust tothe daily routine. Wanted to send you a short note to tell you we thoroughly enjoyed the tour in Tuscany-Umbria and are already talking about the next trip. Our tour guide Aldo was great fun and informative enough to allow us to explore and learn more at the same time. The experience also enabled Jamie and myself to reconnect with the Italian traditions of our youth. That means more to us than anything, and will stay with us for a long time. Grazie mille.

Super glad we were able to do the Sicily 2013 trip with Amber. Luigi is an excellent, accommodating tour manager and Fabio a very fine driver.

This is to let you know how very much we enjoyed the Tuscany/Umbria tour. Our guide, Luca, was the best, knowledgeable, cleaver with a quick wit and always there to help and inform. It is not always easy driving in Italy, however, Tiziano is a skilled and careful driver making all of us feel quite safe. The hotels and restaurants surpassed our expectations. Our group had such fun eating and making discoveries in each place we visited. Being with a group of only 18 makes for a much more enjoyable experience and we could not have been with a nicer group of people. Also, wish to mention the city guides who were superb. And, not having to dip into our pockets to tip porters and city guides is a big plus, all taken care of by Amber Road Tours. We will return for another adventure and thank Jonathan and Sonya for everything.

We wish to thank you for one of the best vacations we have ever taken. Sicily was magnificent, and all the hotels we stayed at were wonderful. We also really appreciated that we had some free time, which were lacking in most other tours, and a negative for us. We want to make a point of thanking all that our guide Aldo did to make this trip such a success. His energy, keen sense of humor, patience and expertise are difficult to find in one person–but he manages to bring all those traits together. We still smile when we think of how he would burst into song while we sat on long bus rides in order to keep all out spirits up. Thank you again for a great tour experience.

Gerry and I really enjoyed the Amber Road Tour of Sicily. The small tour concept really appealed to both of us. We had toured before with Globus and enjoyed the trip. This was much better due to the size of the tour group. We were able to get a better view of the people, the breathtaking scenery, and a slice of Sicilian life. Aldo was the very best tour guide we have had the pleasure of traveling and following on our trips. His sense of humor and knowledge added much to the tour. Our bus driver, Vincenzo, was truly a professional driver and a good counterpoint to Aldo. Our best regards for a memorable experience.

Just a note to pass on our thanks for a wonderful tour of Tuscany! We appreciated very much the enthusiasm and dedication our tour manager Beatrice provided to ensure a happy and very worthwhile visit to this wonderful part of the world and also Ubaldo’s skilled driving on some very difficult roads. We loved the walks and in particular the walk to the olive vineyard and wonderful meal after, but then there were so many wonderful days and interesting places and beautiful food that was all well planned and thought out. Being with a small group of such nice people also added a very happy time for all. We appreciate very much what the Amber Road tour provided us and would have no hesitation in recommending them to our friends and look forward to doing another one in the future.

Thank you for a truly memorable Veneto Tour. The hotels were first class, the meals were delicious and the sights magnificent! Laura was a wonderful, caring and knowledgeable tour guide and an excellent tour manager. What a pleasure it was for us not to worry about where to stay, what to see, where to eat and navigating. This was our second Amber Road Tour and it will definitely not be our last!

The itinerary and pacing of the week were excellent Your tours get us to very interesting places that I wouldn’t have otherwise visited. This is my second Amber Road tour and I’ve observed that you attract terrific travelers. I enjoyed my fellow tourists and am looking forward to the Sicily trip for Fall 2014.

Clearly the best tour we have been on, with Aldo as an excellent guide, Tiziano a great bus driver. They provided plenty of entertainment during our bus trips. Good mix between touring and free time. Even though weather was not at times what everyone expected it made no difference as tour was well organized and probably better for traveling and walking around the villages. Have already recommended the tour to friends we have met in our visit to Greece. We are intending to book another trip, God willing perhaps in a couple of years. We have our first grandchild on the way! Thank you Jonathan and it was a pleasure to meet you and Sonya.

We are still basking in the glow of that incredible Sicily itinerary/journey. This 2nd tour with Amber Road Tours will, hopefully, be followed by yet a 3rd for us. Everything about this itinerary speaks to the high quality and professionalism of your company. All hotels, dining experiences and sites were clearly carefully chosen to provide a complete opportunity for a solid/extremely satisfying tour, encompassing the highlights and hidden gems of Sicily, which we had so anticipated.

Tour manager, Luigi, is a talented, skilled, delightful and accommodating young man, who kept the tour on an even pace, while managing to meet individual needs. When we inquired about Sicily’s unique puppet theater (actually marionettes), he researched and located one in Ortygia. While not on the itinerary, he secured reservations for those of the group interested. This event was a bit of serendipity which expanded the cultural events of the tour. Marco, our driver, provided a secure ride for the group through some challenging navigation. He expressed a warm personality and he and Luigi entertained us with fine voices, singing some typical Sicilian folk songs.

Thanks to all for a wonderful journey which exceeded our expectations.

Critiquing our tour to the Amalfi Coast and Puglia is a pleasure because it was so delightful in every way. All the accommodations were unique and well chosen. We all will have some great memories of the elegance and comfort we enjoyed. The guides were more than knowledgeable and pleasant. We all learned a great deal about these lesser-known but wonderful areas of Italy. The presentation of each guide was thorough, intriguing and easy to understand.  Amber Road travelers always enjoy memorable meals of local specialties and this trip was no exception. Our traveling companions were congenial and always considerate. I am so grateful that I was able to be a part of this adventure.

What a wonderful trip we had! Sicily is a country full of outstanding architecture, history, art and treasures, lovely people, beautiful scenery, flowers and delicious food. And we certainly experienced all of that and more! Aldo is a gifted guide, one of the best I have ever traveled with. Not only is he extremely knowledgeable, he was always so well prepared, telling us what we needed to know for our next experience. Plus, he was so generous, sharing information about his background, growing up in Sicily, and the Italian culture. I learned a great deal and came to love and appreciate Sicily so much that I am encouraging everyone I know to visit…and I can’t wait to return!

The itinerary was excellent; I appreciated the least amount of time possible spent on the bus, though our driver Marcello was excellent and the bus very comfortable. I believe we truly experienced the most important highlights. I thought the local guides were excellent, especially the women. I loved the Hotel Villa Belvedere where we had the most wonderful room looking out at the gorgeous, blue Ionian Sea. Other highlights for me include Monreale, Erice, the Museo del Satiro, the tour of the island with the Whitaker Museum, the incredibly preserved and beautiful Doric Temples, the Baroque cathedrals in Ragusa and Noto, the puppet show in Ortigia, wine-tasting with the Gambinos, views of and from Mt. Etna, our walk to the delightful town of Castelmola and all the delicious food and wine. I really appreciated Aldo trying to bring us to non-touristy local restaurants and encouraging us to eat the best of the local food. After, my friend and I went on to Spoleto for a week, which we enjoyed very much. I know you have a home there – lucky you! I hope one day to plan another tour with Amber Road Tours.

Our May tour of the Amalfi Coast and Puglia was our third with Amber Road and our second with the irrepressible Luca, who kept us well informed and entertained throughout. We enjoyed the same degree of comfort, luxury and discovery that made our previous trips with you so memorable. The itinerary would be impossible to improve upon. We’ll long remember the beauty and charm of the Amalfi Coast and the many UNESCO World Heritage sites we visited, especially in Matera and Alberobello. Thanks to you and Sonya for creating tours I can confidently recommend to anyone considering the vacation of a lifetime in Italy.

I must compliment you and your team for organizing and providing a tour of exceptionally high quality. The itinerary was superior and took us to many interesting locations. The balance between organized tour activities and ‘free time’ was perfect. The quality of the hotels was excellent as were the meals included in the program. The staff at the hotels were very helpful, especially those at the Albergo Al Sole in Asolo.  Our tour guide, Laura Serafin was well organized, knowledgeable, informative and charming. She is an asset to your organization. We look forward to taking another Amber Road Tour and will certainly recommend your tours to our friends and colleagues.

I’ve been home a week and still catch myself smiling about my once-in-a lifetime trip to Florence and the hill towns of Tuscany and Umbria. The itinerary was wonderful as were the hotels, food, scenery, and local guides.  I especially liked the small tour group of only 18 people- a diverse and lively lot!  Our bus driver, Tiziano, was fun and a careful driver. But I am saving best for last. Aldo, our tour guide, was the sparkly ribbon that tied this adventure together and made it all go smoothly.  His enthusiasm, humor, patience and knowledge were outstanding.  Many thanks for such a memorable journey!

Just writing to let you know that Maureen and I really enjoyed the Sicily tour. As anticipated, the thought and planning carried out by you was first class. Azzurra, our tour manager, is a delightful young lady who was considerate and caring of the group as well as having a broad knowledge of Sicily. There were many highlights – including the amazing Mt Etna. Syracuse was also a wonderful experience and, in general, the local guides were good to fantastic. All in all Amber Road supplied a high quality and comprehensive tour of Sicily enhanced by a wonderful group of people.
